Friesian Horse Facts | What Colour Tack Would You Put On A Chestnut Horse?

Posted By: JR

I am looking to buy a 16hands horse who is a a light red chestnut colour .what colour tack (saddle & bridle) would you put on her brown or black?what colour head collars and rugs?also she is in foal and is due this month, any tips in bring her back into work?and how to look after a foal? (training ect..)she is a glenander sports mare any facts i should know about? ( i think she has 1 less Viterbi in her back cos her tail sticks up when she canters)the dad is a friesianthank you for your help

Unfortunately i can only help you with accessorizing, brown tack (tack comes in many shades of brown, so you can pick one that goes best with her coat — maybe bring a picture with you to the tack store). and for the halter / blanket, you can pretty well choose any colour, that part is really about what you prefer.

Personally I would say brown tack would look better on a chestnut. Maybe for head collars a light brown (maybe beige) and the same for a rug. Though they might get dirtier quicker so you could maybe go for a dark brown. 🙂
