Horse Names | Fellowship: Soup And Sandwich Lunch To Be Served

A lunch of soup and sandwiches will be served Sunday in Knox Hall at Brentwood Presbyterian Church following the 11 a.m. service.

A good will offering will be taken. All proceeds will be sent to the church’s missionaries in Malawi, Africa.

The congregational meeting of the church is scheduled for Jan. 29, following the 11 a.m. service. The business of the church will be discussed.

St. Wendelin

The St. Wendelin Century Club dinner will be held Feb. 18 at Wendel Inn, 2728 Custer Ave. in Carrick.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $100 per couple, which includes dinner for two and chances to win cash prizes. All proceeds from the Century Club benefit the Rejuvenation Campaign.

The menu features roast beef carved by the chef, chicken marsala, penne alfredo, red roasted potatoes, green beans almond-ine, vegetable medley, family-style tossed salad, rolls and desserts. Set ups and beer will be provided.

St. Peter’s events

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brentwood hosts Zumba classes on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.

Georgann Siesky will teach the class, which is one hour. The cost is $6 per person. For more information, visit www.stpetersbrentwood.org .

The community is invited to Morning Coffee at St. Peter’s, a bereavement resource group sponsored by John Slater Funeral Home.

The group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at the church, 4048 Brownsville Road. Upcoming meetings are Feb. 9, March 8 and April 12.

Overeaters Anonymous meets at St. Peter’s most Sundays at 7 p.m. For more information, call the church.

Night at Races

St. Sylvester School will hold its sixth annual Monte Carlo/ Night at the Races on Feb. 4 at 5 p.m. in the church hall, 3754 Brownsville Road in Brentwood.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person, and only 200 tickets will be sold.

Send requests for tickets and horse names to the school office with payment made to “St. Sylvester School.”

Alternative service

The Rev. Emily Miller will lead the Alternative worship service Sundays at 7 p.m., at Hamilton Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park.

The service is informal and outside the pulpit. Communion also will be offered more often than in traditional Presbyterian services.

Most of the music will be contemporary with some traditional hymns set to a new musical beat.

The church is at the corner of Baptist and Hamilton roads.

Marriage preparation

Marriage preparation classes will be held at St. Louise DeMarillac Church on Mondays, from Feb. 13 to March 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Le Gras Parish Center in Upper St. Clair.

The cost is $75 per couple. To register, call the parish office at 412-833-1010.

St. Sylvester parents

First Reconciliation and First Communion parent meeting will be held for all parents of a child in second grade at St. Sylvester School and in the CCD program on Feb. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the church hall., 3754 Brownsville Road in Brentwood.

At least one parent should attend. No children should attend.
